UK Undergraduate Programmes
We offer various internships from Business to Technology, from HR to Software Development and many more opportunities to kick-start your year in industry. You’ll work on real projects, all whilst being supported to gain as much as possible from the experience.
12 Month University
Placements
We offer 12-month University Placement opportunities in Business and Finance, Human Resources, Technology, Marketing, Software Development and Design. Whichever role you choose, you’ll gain the experience, skills and contacts you need to help us solve some of our client’s toughest challenges. In return, we’ll give you everything you need to build the career you want, including fantastic support, training and development and a competitive salary. Our University Placement Scheme is for those in their penultimate year of their Undergraduate degree looking for a year in industry. Roles open periodically over the academic year for up to 1 week at a time. We close these once we have hit capacity.
Our hiring process runs in sprints – this means we aim to complete the ‘Initial Application to Exploration Session’ stages of the process within a 4-week period.
Salaries start at £18,000 pro rated per annum with £1,000 sign on bonus.

Before you apply, please ensure you are on track for a 2:1 or above (in any degree discipline) and are looking to take a year out from University during the penultimate year of your undergraduate degree.
We welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities, but there may be some restrictions if you cannot demonstrate that you have your own right to work within the UK. The process is quick, we don’t want you waiting around. Our aim is to get you from online application to assessment centre in just four weeks. Our schemes close quickly so make sure you register your interest above, and once you have applied, check your emails regularly to see what stage of the process you are at.
Extreme Blue –
12 Week Summer
Internship
There are internships, and then there’s Extreme Blue.
Think of it as the opportunity to unleash your technical ingenuity and business acumen in the professional world working on internal and external projects - with the support, expertise and backing of one of the world's leading technology companies. Extreme Blue at IBM isn’t your average internship. It’s a race against time - with the 12 week timeline compelling you to prove your creativity, passion and knowledge to deliver some of the most innovative solutions to real life business challenges. You will work in a team of 4 to develop an idea to address a real-world challenge confronting part of IBM's business – and then turn that idea into a real product. When the 12 weeks are up, you’ll showcase it to our executives, business partners and clients. Each year 16 students join us on Extreme Blue, in 12 Technology roles, and 4 Design roles.
